When I commented that the wrist brace was going to be impossible to wear all of the time at work, you questioned why. Oh, you didn't realize we needed to wear gloves during surgery? Mmm, because *your* vet allowed to you assist with your dog's neuter and he didn't wear gloves? And that did not make you, someone that has gone through medical school and at least part of a residency, stop and wonder if your vet was a dinosaur? I mean, I know your attending...she is pretty awesome. I know at least 3 other people that have gone through your exact program and they seem to have their wits about them. So you honestly didn't think that germ theory doesn't apply to non-humans. You did seem surprised when I asked you how you would feel if I was going to operate on you junk without gloves. I hope, at least, you think it applies to humans. I am just going to wash my hands and get out of here before I catch some nosocomial infection you brought me from two exam rooms over.
Stay sterile...seriously, don't have kids.

ReplyDeleteI was bitten by a cat on my ER rotation and the 4th year med student that initially saw me in the human ER asked me if cats can get rabies...You can't make up stuff like this.
ReplyDeleteI won't even go into the local hospital that turned away someone that had been bitten by a rabid animal because she "wasn't showing signs" and therefore didn't need the vaccine.
ReplyDeleteOr the hospital that had to be told repeatedly *where* to give a rabies vaccine even though the directions on the vial were clear. My friend, who is a vet, had to show them how to give it.
As far as I'm concerned, it's a tossup as to whether RNs or MDs are worse clients.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that is is not just my local clinic that apparently knows absolutely nothing about Rabies. On second thought, I guess that is not a good thing to be glad about.
